PROGRAM DETAILS

1. WHAT IS ALOHA BEACH CAMP?
If you're like most people, when you think of Aloha Beach Camp you might envision our popular day camp program in the Los Angeles area of Malibu, CA. But we also offer a 1-week sleepaway camp in Hawaii! In fact 2021 will be our 8th summer operating the program. We invite your camper to join us for an amazing week of land and water sports, outdoor adventures, nature activities, and an all-around phenomenal camp experience with dozens of safe and fun camp activities, many of which are unique to Hawaii.
2. WHO IS THE PROGRAM FOR?
Boys, girls, kids, and teens between the ages of 7 and 16 from all over the world are welcome to join us at camp. If your child is looking for the most incredible summer camp experience of their lives...this is it!  After all, our camp is in Hawaii ... what could be more fun?!

3. WHEN DOES THE CAMP TAKE PLACE?
The dates of the program are Monday, Aug 2, 2021 to Saturday, Aug 7, 2021  (5 nights).
4. WHERE IS THE CAMP LOCATED?
Aloha Beach Camp's Hawaii Overnight program takes place at  Camp Mokuleia facility on the beautiful North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. The camp is located right on the beach between the mountains and the sea. One of the most beautiful and unique settings for an overnight summer camp, Camp Mokuleia just a 45 minute drive from downtown Honolulu and world-famous Waikiki Beach. You can read more about our camp location here.

Please note this is only a sample and may not reflect your camper's actual daily routine, but rest assured most (if not all) of the activities should be available and campers will have the chance to pick the activities they want to participate in.

6. WHO ARE THE CAMP COUNSELORS?

They are dedicated to making your child's camp experience with us the best it can be. Learn more about our camp counselors on our staff information page.

7. WHAT ARE THE CABINS LIKE?
Living in tents and cabins with your counselors and fellow campers is a staple of the overnight summer camp experience.  All of our cabins are located right on the beach and have electricity and indoor restrooms (sink, toilet, shower) for privacy. We use bunk beds that sleep one person on top and one person on the bottom. Approximately 2 counselors and 8 campers sleep together in the cabins; these people comprise your "cabin group" and you will be together all week not just in the cabins at night, but also during the day while hanging out and enjoying the camp activities and eating meals together all week. Campers are welcome to make special requests to be bunked together with their friends.
8. WHAT ABOUT FOOD?
We promote healthy eating and smart food choices. Campers eat family-style by cabin group in our modern dining hall overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Our our kitchen staff prepares three well-balanced meals a day including a full salad bar at lunch and dinner. Vegetarian options and/or dietary restrictions are gladly accommodated when noted in advance on your camper's Registration Form. From time-to-time we may take sight-seeing field trips where we eat off-site in restaurants. The camp will cover the cost of these meals in this case.
9. WHAT IF MY CHILD GETS HOMESICK?

Aloha Beach Camp's staff is trained and skilled in helping campers overcome homesickness.  It doesn't happen often, but when it does, homesickness can negatively impact a child's camp experience if not handled with care and urgency. Parents will be contacted if the homesickness continues for more than 24 hours. We will continue to work with your camper to minimize any feelings of homesickness and make sure they have a fantastic time at camp.
10. MY CHILD TAKES MEDICATION. HOW DO YOU HANDLE THAT?
Protecting the health and safety of our campers is our top priority. You'll be glad to know many campers require medication at camp; this is not unusual at all. If your child must take medication at camp, please send a note with clear instructions. The medicine must be in the original prescription container or labeled bottle. All medications must be turned over to the Camp's Health Care Provider or designated staff upon arrival.  Medications may only be administered by the Camp Health Care Provider or designated staff with written consent from the parent or guardian. You will need to complete a health history/Doctor's Health Form and medication card for your camper prior to attendance.  All medications and health histories are confidential.
11. CAN WE SIGN UP FOR THE HAWAII CAMP EVEN IF WE DON'T GO TO DAY CAMP (AND VICE VERSA)?
Of course! Please remember, our 1-week Hawaii camp is just an additional program option along with our L.A. day camp. Many kids attend our day camp program, others join us in Hawaii, and many do both.  It's completely your choice as to which program or programs you want to attend -- you can go to one, the other, or both :)
12. WHAT SHOULD WE BRING TO CAMP?
Being in Hawaii, you won't need much other than a few bathing suits and towels, but we'll send you a suggested packing list after you sign up for camp.  Please note many airlines impose a per-bag luggage fee which increases the heavier your suitcase gets, so please pack lightly :)

FLIGHTS AND TRAVEL DETAILS

1. HOW WILL MY CHILD GET TO HAWAII?
Your camper can fly together with our group from LAX or travel separately and meet us in Hawaii. Many kids enjoy flying with our group because we get a group discount, the flight is part of the fun, and coordinating arrival and departures at the airport is easier. But we understand everyone's situation is different, so whatever works best for you is fine with us.

If you want your camper to fly with us:

We are currently working with Hawaiian Airlines, our preferred airline partner, to arrange flight times and group airfare discounts. We will post exact details here when as we get them, certainly no later than February 1.  But generally, you can expect to pay somewhere around $650 round-trip (LAX to Honolulu and back) under the group discount, and you should plan on meeting us at the LAX airport early in the morning Monday, August 2 for departure and again in the late afternoon or evening Saturday, August 7 to pick up your child when we come home.

For campers flying separately:

Campers will be met at the airport by our staff and transported from the airport to camp by bus or van. We will bring campers back to the airport on our bus or van when it's time to go home. Please make arrangements to arrive in Honolulu no later than 1:00 PM on Monday, August 2, and depart no later than 9:00 AM on Saturday, August 7, 2021.  When you know your camper's flight details, please share them with us so we can make arrangements to meet your child upon arrival in Hawaii and help them board their plane when it's time to go home.
2. WHEN DO WE NEED TO ARRANGE OUR FLIGHT DETAILS?
As soon as possible. Your camper can either fly together with our group from LAX or fly separately and meet us in Hawaii. After you sign up for camp, we will contact you to discuss options and make arrangements. If you have further questions about flight and travel arrangements ahead of time, please feel free to contact us.

3. WHAT DOES THE PRICE INCLUDE?
In general, the current $1,496 per-camper price includes all meals, supervision, activities, instruction, equipment and lodging.  More specifically, campers enjoy:
  • Overnight accommodations in tents or cabins 10 feet from the beach at Camp Mokuleia on Oahu's beautiful North Shore.
  • Safe and fun camp activities you can't find anywhere else, largely because they're unique to Hawaii
  • Adult supervision by Aloha Beach Camp counselors and staff
  • Transportation around the island
  • Three healthy meals each day
  • Everything you'd expect from a high quality overnight summer camp program...in Hawaii!
4. WHAT DOE THE PRICE EXCLUDE?
The price does not include spending money or airfare.  Regarding spending money, we suggest bringing $150-200 or so.  Our counselors can hold your child's money for them during the trip and help them keep an accurate accounting of their spending should they need assistance.
