5 Things to Know Before Sending Your Child to Camp in Hawaii

If you’re thinking about giving your child the ultimate summer experience, a Hawaii summer camp is about as good as it gets with sun, sand, surf, and lots of aloha spirit. Before you pack the sunscreen and book those flights, here are five important things to keep in mind to make the most of your camper’s island adventure.

1. It’s More Than Just a Vacation. It's Camp!

While the turquoise water and swaying palms might look like a postcard, camp in Hawaii is a full program—packed with activities, structure, and new friendships. Campers will surf, snorkel, explore hidden beaches, and try island traditions, all while building independence and confidence.

2. Packing Light (but Smart) Is Key

Space in cabins is limited, so think “essentials only.” Comfortable clothes, swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, and sturdy sandals are must-haves. We recommend labeling everything—things have a way of getting “adopted” by new friends when camp spirit is in full swing. We will provide a packing list to campers several weeks before the start of camp.

From certified lifeguards at every water activity to trained staff in CPR and first aid, safety is our top priority. We follow strict supervision ratios, and all water activities are age and skill-appropriate. Parents can rest easy knowing campers are in good hands.
